Daniela Menzky is a serial entrepreneur with over 30 years of experience in the corporate sector across diverse industries and business models. Daniela held a number of senior Human Resources & Organisational Strategy roles in major blue chip organisations such as Kodak and Avon Cosmetics before moving into General Management as a Managing Director for HAVI Logistics, the world’s largest privately-owned food service logistics company, as well as small & medium size technology enterprises.
Following her successful corporate career, she co-founded and scaled several companies across Cybersecurity, IoT Communications, and Climate Mitigation. She is Co-Ceo of ANGOKA, a cyber security company and co-founder and Chair of Climate Essentials, a start-up helping organisations reach net zero via their data-driven multi-stakeholder software solution, Climate Essentials.
Steve has over 35 years of international business experience in corporate finance. He started his career at Bankers Trust and worked in the capital and securities market in NY, Tokyo, and London. This period in investment banking was followed by a career in venture capital, a focus retained to the present day. Steve holds several executive and non-executive directorships, including chairman of Clima Investments, a green FinTech asset management company.
At Climate Essentials, Anna works to ensure client success with new and existing clients and leads our outreach and project delivery activities. Anna joined Climate Essentials in 2021 with 9 years of experience in client and project management, having worked in a variety of projects ranging from large scale client service delivery to product development, and establishing an international subsidiary in India.
With Masters in both Chemical Engineering and Sustainable Development, Martina joined Climate Essentials in 2019 to build and manage the engineering of our Award Winning software. Martina ensures our clients adopt best practice via the platform methodology, and ensure accurate and compliant reporting as the carbon landscape evolves. Her experience spans from market leading R&D projects and consulting, ranging from biofuel implementation at a country level to energy efficiency and climate change impact measurement. As a supporter of broadening the roles of engineers to solve today’s most pressing problems, Martina is passionate about the inclusion of sustainability as a practice to promote systemic change.
Michael joins Climate Essentials in 2024 as our Marketing Manager. He arrives with three years' experience working in the marketing team for other tech start-ups. Equipped with an MBA in Media Management, as well as a background in content creation and management, Michael will use his skills and experience to drive the Climate Essentials brand forward, accelerate our outreach, and shaping our strategic positioning.
Sam is here to help bridge the gap between complex carbon management science, and its application in everyday business operations. Having worked with businesses to support their adoption of best practice for over 6 years, he understands the challenges that businesses face of managing competing and evolving priorities, whilst balancing new and challenging demands. Sam’s priority is to support the adoption of the Climate Essentials platform for clients in order to make the process as smooth and impactful as possible.
Steph has 3 years experience working in tech start ups across a range of industries, and has worked extensively in onboarding and implementation of new tech and software. At Climate Essentials, she focuses on building relationships with the local authorities and businesses that we work with in order to understand their unique requirements and to help them get the most out of our programmes.
Beatrice joined Climate Essentials in 2023 after completing a Master's in International Development & Sustainability at the University of Bath. At Climate Essentials, Beatrice works to support community development and engagement activities.
Joe is here to provide dedicated client support and serve as a point of contact for organisations eager to use our software to accelerate their path towards decarbonisation. He holds a degree in Environment and Business from the University of Leeds and has experience at a leading consultancy in the waste and biomass sector. Additionally, Joe has achieved commercial success with his own nightlife events collective. He aims to instil confidence in customers, ensuring they use our product as effectively and efficiently as possible.
Archie is a Sustainability and Climate Analyst with over 5 years of experience in water & environmental management, focusing on pollution studies, risk mitigation, and sustainable solutions. She has successfully led projects in nature-based solutions, climate science, and GHG emissions, driving measurable improvements in sustainability outcomes.
Garry is passionate about clean-affordable energy - how do we decarbonise our homes whilst allowing the most vulnerable to afford to stay warm. His PhD was in Passive Housing. Garry has a background in energy, environment and sustainability, built in corporate organisations (IBM, Landmark Graphics) and leading consultancies (KPMG, A.T.Kearney). He was a founder director of the Carbon Trust leading on the UK’s carbon reduction programmes for business creating the Action Energy and Carbon Management programmes.
Nowadays he supports start-ups operating in the clean energy sector and supports the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy on their Energy Entrepreneurs Fund programme and Innovate UK. He recently has advised several overseas governments on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and the elimination of coal. He is a board director of the Brighton and Hove Energy Service Co-op and Chair of Thermify – an innovative start-up providing zero cost, zero carbon domestic heating.
David van der Walt qualified as a chartered accountant with KPMG in 1991 and joined Rand Merchant Bank in 1992 and subsequently Investec in 1994. Since joining Investec, David has held a number of positions within the Group both in South Africa and the UK since 2002, when he moved to set up the Corporate and Institutional banking business for Investec in the UK. In July 2004 David was appointed Global Head of Corporate and Institutional Banking with responsibility for the business unit across all geographies. David was appointed CEO for Investec Bank plc in 2010 and in June 2019 moved on to take a Group Executive Board role to look after all business outside SA, group risk and sustainability. David retired from Investec in December 2020 and currently remains on contract with Investec Bank Plc. In addition David currently sits on the boards of a number of JV companies that are associated with Investec and holds a number of positions on various fund Investment Committees including Israeli Trust Investments, Templewater Australia Property Fund and chairman of Investec Private Debt Fund.
