IASME is a cyber security certification organisation that issues the Cyber Essentials certification alongside a number of other highly recognised cyber security certifications. At its heart, IASME works to make cyber security more inclusive, accessible and diverse.
IASME joined Worcestershire County Council’s and Climate Essential’s decarbonisation portal programme in August 2022. Under the programme, the organisation was able to access 12 months of the Climate Essentials platform in order to measure and report their carbon emissions.
Sustainability is important to IASME for a number of reasons: It aligns with their values and culture, it helps them improve their operations, and keep up to date with government requirements and legislation. Through surveying employees, IASME identified sustainability and environmental consciousness as a key value to their company. They joined the Climate Essentials programme in order to become a more sustainable organisation.
“Climate Essentials as an organisation have been so supportive and so helpful.” -Emma Philpott, CEO at IASME
IASME was recently required to complete a new framework agreement, the PPN 06/21. This asked for a detailed carbon reduction plan. Access to the Climate Essentials platform was integral to IASME being able to complete and submit this reduction plan. The team had no prior experience in sustainability or carbon reporting, but found the Climate Essential platform simple and easy to use.
“Coming from zero knowledge to being able to do a carbon reduction plan, it’s a big learning curve. I wouldn’t have been able to do it unless I’d had the platform.” - Wendy Barker, Operations Manager at IASME
Through the process of collecting their data and putting together a reduction plan, IASME was able to identify focus areas and begin their journey to net zero. They will be introducing an environmental taskforce, and begin implementing effective reduction strategies for their organisation based on information gathered on Climate Essentials. While it’s only the start of IASME’s sustainability journey, they’re excited about what’s next and what can be achieved.
